Noordwijk - Egmond
Distance: 61.5 km
In the springtime, flower lovers can take a short detour to admire the internationally renowned bulb fields. You cycle through the varied landscape of the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen, wedged between the coast and the metropolitan Randstad area. Then you ride past the inner dune border of the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, between Zandvoort and IJmuiden, where old dunes, beach walls, dense forests and a string of majestic estates await you. When you arrive at the ferry that will take you across the North Sea Canal, you leave the romantic scenery behind you. This area is ruled by industry. Riding away from the smoking blast furnaces, you set your sights on quieter places. The Noordhollands Duinreservaat (North Holland Dune Reserve) awaits you. Here you find a varied landscape of oak forests, wet and dry dune valleys, and dune tops. Attention! In the Noordhollands Duinreservaat everyone over 18 years of age needs a 'duinkaart'. More information can be found here.
