A bike tour starts with the preparation at home. And with that, the anticipation also begins. What do I bring? Am I going by train to the starting point? Which bicycle guide is available? We are happy to answer these questions here.

Work is taking place in phases between Den Oever and Kornwerderzand on the Afsluitdijk.The special Afsluitdijk bicycle bus takes you along the works free of charge.

What are you looking for when you go cycling? Most of all a beautiful route. Preferably with a good map. And practical information for on the road. That’s what this LF cycle guide will offer you.

Follow the signs

The signposting of an LF route is simple and clear: the entire LF Kustroute is marked in both directions with signs that say ‘LF Kustroute’. This means that we can keep the instructions extremely short: “follow the signs”.

Take the road with the app

Let the LF app guide you during your bike ride. Free and handy for on the road. It includes details of the LF Kustroute. And also of the ‘Fietsers Welkom!’ establishments and accommodations. The app even tells you the ferry schedules.

Certificate and frame sticker

Did you ride the entire LF Kustroute? Then you can apply for a suitable souvenir: a shield to stick onto your frame, a personal certificate and a mention in the gallery of honour.

Check the current info

Almost ready to hop on your bike? Check the latest info before you go. Maybe a road has been diverted, a ferry is out of service or there’s been another route change. (in Dutch)

For your convenience we have divided the LF Kustroute into eleven stages. If you’d rather plan your trip yourself, the distance table will get you started.

Take your bike with you on the train

If you’d like to take your bike with you on the train, you have to make a reservation and buy a day ticket for bikes, which has a fixed rate regardless of the distance and destination.

Cross the border

Can’t get enough of the coast? Then you can continue riding the international North Sea Cycle Route. The EuroVelo 12 is about 7000 km in length, stretching around the North Sea.
